Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo's seasons could be over as Jose Mourinho fears the worst

Image
J ose Mourinho admitted that he fears the worst over injuries to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo that could end their seasons and deal a crushing blow to Manchester United’s prospects of Europa League success and Champions League qualification. With Ibrahimovic’s future at Old Trafford in doubt as he stalls over a new contract, it is not certain the Swedish striker will play for United again after his right knee locked nastily as he jumped for a header in stoppage time of his team’s 2-1 victory against Anderlecht. The 35-year-old – who missed two glaring chances during arguably his worst performance in a United shirt - was able to walk gingerly off the pitch rather than needing a stretcher but pictures of the injury hinted at ligament damage. Despite his dismal display, though, the loss of United’s leading scorer would be an acute blow to Mourinho and place a huge onus on Marcus Rashford as well as offering a chance of a reprieve to forgotten man Wayne Rooney. Rojo had be...

Desharnais scores late in OT to lift Oilers over Sharks, 4-3

Image
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — After struggling through the first part of the series,  David Desharnais  scored in OT to lift the  Edmonton Oilers . Desharnais ' goal with less than two minutes to go in the first overtime helped the Oilers beat the Sharks 4-3 on Thursday night and push San Jose to the brink of elimination in the NHL playoffs. The fourth-line center, in the slot, one-timed a Leon Draisaitl cross-ice pass past Sharks goaltender  Martin Jones  as the orange and blue-clad fans roared at Rogers Place. "It feels amazing," said Desharnais, who was a trade-deadline pickup from Montreal. "Everybody was tired a little bit on the ice, so I just jumped in the hole, and (Draisaitl) made a really good pass and I just tried to shoot it as quick as I could and it went in." Draisaitl also set up  Mark Letestu  late in the second period to cut the Sharks lead to 3-2. "The first couple of games I hadn't been good, and tonight was a st...

Zayn Drops the MUCH AWAITED Video of #StillGotTime!

Image
The former One Direction star added to his collection of tats with a new inking of the initials ‘SGT’. And Directioners went nuts thinking it was in tribute to supermodel Gigi Hadid. But let’s get real, guys, it was probably to remember his new single with PARTYNEXTDOOR – Still Got Time AKA SGT. The Drake-inspired hit is the first single from his hotly-anticipated second album. Check it Out HERE! His debut album, Mind Of Mine, topped both the US and UK charts on its week of release, but any  fears about the dreaded follow-up  seem to have passed Zayn by . ‘They always say the second album is difficult, but so far I’m really happy with this one,’ he told The Times earlier in March. ‘There are real signs of growth and development. Hopefully, as a human being, I’m growing too, in my knowledge and perception.’ So that’s the myth busted. Or is it? Toughest NFL schedules in 2017? Cowboys lead pack

Image
The NFL schedule won't help  Dak Prescott  and  Ezekiel Elliott  avoid  a sophomore slump . The law of  Cowboys  gravity under owner Jerry Jones goes something like this: Dallas teams that get puffed up one year usually deflate the following season. The  Cowboys  haven't won double-digit games in back-to-back years since 1995-96, and they won't get many cheap wins in 2017. The NFL schedule  is nearly impossible to handicap in April, but Dallas' slate has few weak spots. Football Outsiders  ranks the Cowboys' schedule  as the toughest in football. There are five  Cowboys  prime-time games and they will probably be flexed into a sixth, leading to some funky travel weeks. The 'Boys highlight my list of teams with the hardest schedules in large part because of their division. The NFC East has no easy outs. The division also faces tough non-conference games against a similarly deep AFC West. And the  Cowboys ...

JR Smith to start Game 3 for Cavaliers

Image
INDIANAPOLIS -- When  JR Smith  walked out of the arena after not playing in the second half of the  Cleveland Cavaliers '  117-111  Game 2 victory over the  Indiana Pacers  on Monday because of a hamstring injury, he vowed to play in Game 3 as long as the Cavs would let him. Smith got his wish Thursday after getting through the morning shootaround without any setbacks. Cavs coach Tyronn Lue told reporters before the game that Smith would return to his place in the starting lineup and would be relied upon for his defense on the Pacers'  Paul George , who is averaging 30.5 points per game in the Eastern Conference first-round series thus far. "Defensively, just challenge Paul George, make his offensive life miserable," Lue said of the task Smith is charged with. "Just try to make his shots hard, compete. He's going to make some shots, and some tough shots at that, but just making him work for everything he gets.       ...

General Motors Quits Venezuela After Officials Seize Plant

Image
General Motors said it has been forced to stop operating in Venezuela on Wednesday after one of its plants was illegally seized by local authorities. The seizure, in the country's industrial hub of Valencia, comes amid a deepening economic and political crisis that has sparked weeks of deadly street protests. General Motors Venezolana, GM's local subsidiary, said it "strongly rejects the arbitrary measures taken by the authorities and will vigorously take all legal actions, within and outside of Venezuela, to defend its rights." The auto giant did not provide any details about its plant being seized, other than saying it "was unexpectedly taken by authorities, preventing normal operations." It said other assets, "such as vehicles," had also been stripped from the site. Venezuela's Information Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for information, according to Reuters. As a result of the seizure, GM announced an ...

Barcelona vs Juventus

Image
Juventus produced an exceptional defensive performance to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League after stopping Barcelona from scoring at the Nou Camp. Trailing 3-0 from the first leg, Barca peppered the Italian goal but failed to repeat their last-16 heroics when they  overturned a first-leg 4-0 deficit  to beat Paris St-Germain. Lionel Messi, who had earlier been denied by Gianluigi Buffon, fired wastefully over the bar while Luis Suarez and Neymar also spurned chances on a night Barca were restricted to one shot on target. Juve's Gonzalo Higuain fired tamely at Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Juan Cuadrado missed another chance but the final whistle was celebrated wildly by the champions of Italy, who have not conceded a single goal from open play in this season's Champions League. Juventus join Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Monaco in Friday's last-four draw (from 11:00 BST) Reaction from Wednesday's Champions League games Juve march on after d...

Convicted killer and former New England Patriots star Aaron J. Hernandez was found hanged inside his cell at the state’s maximum security prison in Shirley early Wednesday, dead of an apparent suicide five days after  he was acquitted of two additional murders. He was found hanging from a bedsheet attached to a window in his cell in Unit G-2 of the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center at about 3:05 a.m., the state Department of Correction said in a statement. His death came on the same day that many of his former teammates were honored at the White House for winning Super Bowl 51. At one time, Hernandez was a key piece of the team’s offense. He had been a football prodigy, selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 National Football League draft. Hernandez, 27, who had appeared buoyant during his recent trial on charges of killing two men in the South End, ...
